So, pre-research I belted out a bunch of sketches knowing only I wanted a gas-mask, an old thumb-busting, slam firing, M1897 Trench Gun, and a trench coat. The Mask was way off for the period. Those I use now are actually based off a German design, but I'd rather not nail myself to the cross of perfection/research.

You'll notice too the butt has been taken off, which would likely have been unheard of; though I reason that if you live with a gun long enough, its like living with a partner; if you're into tattoos piercings etc, eventually you might want them to get one. Same thing with a gun. If you want something easy to carry and to whip around you'll make the changes you have to.
