Light and dark, two forces of magic that are constantly at odds with one another. The very thought of the two working together is, by the worlds understanding, nothing short of absurd. And yet Var’s very existence seems to challenge this. His body is the deep purple synonymous of dark magic. But the bright white glow from his eyes (and of the hole in his hand) can only be light.

Much like his body, his demeanour seems to contradict itself too. His voice is gravely, yet soft. The lack of power in speech, and his ever-present stutter, cause people to believe he's rather nervous and shy upon first impression. But they soon learn it's not the case. He's comfortable talking with anyone about almost anything. Getting to know and befriending people might just rival his love for potion craft.

He was encouraged by his best friend, Renée to open a potion shop in town since he was always tinkering around with recipes in his spare time. The venture was a rather successful one, and became a popular stop for adventurers and the like. Eventually his talents were scouted out by the Valwren Institute of Magic. It's not particularly close to where he lives, but the facilities there are unrivalled and well worth the journey (plus his partner Draevah quite enjoys flying him around).
