So, I've been meaning to post this for a while now, but never really had the drive to do it; but now I do!
So, I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) back when I was a Senior in Highschool (Back then I was actually diagnose with Mild Aspergers Syndrome, but that has since been lumped into ASD). I kinda don't notice it to much, since I was diagnosed so late, but I have had time to think about it a lot. I came up with the idea of creating a Persona to use as a metaphor/analogy for my Autism, and I decided on a Changeling; in this case "Changeling" refers to a part Human, part Fae being. I didn't wanna use the whole "A Changeling is a Fae that has replaced a Human child," simply cause that led to some horrific things that parents might do to their child to get the Faeries to return them, and I'm not OK with the mistreatment of Children (Even though I know Historically the folklore of the Changeling is believed to be an explanation for Autism back in the day, besides other stuff).
In my head cannon for myself, when I was a small child, I wandered off from my parents and somehow stumbled into Faerie (or however you like to call the Realm of the Fae), and toddled around for a few minutes, lost in the wonder like any small child. After those few minutes, some kind hearted Faerie must have found me, and decided to help guide me home, since it was dangerous for a young Child to be out in the Faerie Wilds. They guided me back to the human realm, where like many Faerie Tales of old, I had been gone for only a few seconds. I was unaware however, that even that small time in Faerie was enough to infuse my being with a small portion of Faerie essence. Said essence sat inside me, pooling and cocooned, until at some point when I was almost an adult, when it manifested itself. The pic above is what I imagine I look like when I let my Autistic traits show, but usually I have my human form on.
