The comic was inspired by this song: Beast In Black - Eternal Fire
Fire is a capricious and unpredictable element.
Fire burns, fire consumes and devours.
And, if left to its own devices without purpose or guidance, all it can generate is desolation and chaos.
Yet, for example, a large fire can allow the soil of a forest to sprout new life, resulting in much more vigorous vegetation than the previous one.
Or even, fire itself can allow combinations of elements in the form of new alloys and materials.
During her studies, which began with white magic, Silva also nurtured an increasing interest in black magic,
sure of the fact that, in order to annihilate evil beings, it was necessary in part to know their ways and methods.
After all, no known magic is wholly good or bad, as it is the use made of it that determines whether it will have positive or negative consequences.
A healing spell can be the worst of torments when used to prolong the suffering of a person being tortured, for one thing.
And likewise, the deadliest and most inextinguishable of fires can be summoned to save millions of lives.
From this point of view, Silva and Borgon represent the exact extremes.
While one has inherited the sacred flame of Valmeridia, capable of healing the living without causing them harm,
the other has instead decided to work to control fire in its most raw and primordial form.
A magic so powerful that it would unleash great cataclysms if let go unchecked.
Fire.
A capricious and unpredictable element, which nonetheless lets itself be caressed like a docile puppy by the palm of the lady of the castle when she summons it.
Her eternal flame~
Silva's lore is still shrouded in mystery, yet I'm having fun at showing her powers little by little ^^
Mizuki-chan is the artist that this time had to shape your favorite vixen. And I've gotta say, I couldn't ask for a better style!
I love her lines, the way she colors, but most of all her professionality while working together on the piece.
Definitively an artist worth a watch and a commission.
As for the part in latin, I apologize, but as you know I'm Italian.
In our folklore, witches invoke the forces of nature especially in this language.
However, for the curious, an English translation of the spell might be something like:
"With these words I command the elements...
Share with me all the strength, might and power that ancient magic allows me to use!"
