The Triis are tall (1.5m to 2m), thin race that seem to have originated on a world with a dense or standard atmosphere and a fairly low gravity, much lower than the world where Neu Samarans, Minsk and Humans, first encountered them at Feskias Scee.
On this world, the Triis ritually remove their wings as a rite of adult-hood with a bonesaw such as the one pictured pictured above. This reduces the circulatory load their hearts have to deal with and the weight their bones have to carry, but damages their posture somewhat. Those being groomed to become tribal leaders are forced to keep their wings as a symbol of the weight and responsibility of leadership, with the full knowledge that their lifespans will be dramatically shorter than those that go through their amputations (25 to 30 years as opposed to 40 to 50).
Triumvirate (Neddrik) ruins on several of the airless worlds within Feskias Scee's star system hint that they were transported here, possibly as slave labor, the higher gravity something that the Neddrik don't like, but the Triis can at least tolerate somewhat better. No evidence remain on Feskias Scee of their initial oppression, the location of their original homeworld, or even the memory of their oppressors, though several tribes do have words phonetically similar to Neddrik which mean bad luck.
The planet has an estimated population of between 100,000 and 200,000 Triis, scattered along several connected river valleys and lake shores in villages of up to 200. Lingual drift is constant and widespread, with each tribe often having its own dialect, though a trade-tongue has sprouted up around the world's only 'city' (pop 1500), the castle of Itule, which serves as a neutral meeting and trade-fair location.
Feskias Scee's tech level is pretty much 1 (Bronze to Iron Age), except at Itule, where the world's only written record keeping traditions are kept, and expert craftsman are always tinkering with TL 2 inventions. Itule has gunpowder technology, and primitive cannons rest atop its walls to prevent spillover of tribal wars from affecting the town.
Triis are omnivores, and in addition to raw grubs, nuts, fruits and small fish and game of the forest regions they inhabit, several cooking preparations have been invented that allow the digestion of native plants and animals that would otherwise be poisonous or unhealthy for them. Hot tea, or Grimmen, made from many different herbs and plant barks is a popular beverage, and a paella-like communal stew called Nausch, that takes a day to make serves as a traditional meal for peace treaties, alliances and marriages (often all combined into one inter-tribal event).
Triis marry and mate for life, and practice polygamy, the exact customs of which vary from tribe to tribe. Young are born in clutches of 1 to 2 eggs, and though triple eggs are known to occur, without the advanced medicine of Itule, the mother and eggs are often lost well before laying. Infant mortality before hatching is still high at 65%, even after more than 50,000 years of isolation on Feskias Scee to adapt, a fact almost certainly directly related the planet's high gravity (about equivalent to 1 standard G.)
As yet the Triis homeworld remains undiscovered by Neu Samara, but scholars imagine that the world would be somewhat drier than Feskias Scee, with a size range of 2-3 as opposed to Feskias Scee's size 8. If it survived the Triumvirate's depredations, there should be a good chance that the natural population would be in the tens, if not hundreds of millions, considering the tenacity of the Triis to cling to survival on a much less habitable world.

Half the adventuring party got jump-stranded in unexplored space and ended up at Feskias Scee, made first contact with the folks above.
The other half (different characters, but same players) in a wholly unrelated adventure at an ancient site opened up a stasis field from the Ancients period ... and woke up a little girl of the species, separated from her time by a quarter of a million years.
