This story contains death by deflation to unnamed background characters. I gave it a happy ending but this is made to be a somewhat darker read
Taking place in the world of Rejla, one where civilization is still in a medieval-like state, where rubber is a substance unheard. That is until a sudden and unstoppable plague transformed the entire planet to be completely inflatable! Enough time has passed for the populous to adjust, mostly. And while it may be bouncy squeaky fun in most areas... The Barren Sands has only gotten worse...
So yeah, after over a year of this being worked on then left behind then worked on then left behind, I finally finished the story! ...Kinda.
Okay fine I was planning near the end of production to make a prologue to trim down the exposition, but I couldn't really figure out how it'd play because this story is based on a rp, and the person I rped with didn't really want to continue. This is also why the ending is pretty weak, so I do apologize for that. Regardless, I hope you enjoy.

This was a fascinating read! I was really interested in how scenes that in other inflatable work that are perceived as jovial and fun are instead horrifying within the context of Rejla. The fear of being deflated and left behind as a tarp, or the horror of being able to see inside of your own hollow body, you put a thought-provoking spin on what would otherwise be the norm and I thoroughly enjoyed learning more about the Barren Sands and the squeaky society that resided within; great work!

The only thing I'd recommend in the future is to pace the story a bit more evenly if that makes sense
