In the story I was referencing, the kidnappers turn themselves in because the child they are holding ransom is so obnoxious that prison is more peaceful. Now, imagine having a six-year-old boy screaming inside your head constantly while you hijack his body. Life as an inanimate object suddenly looks much better.
