I'm working on a piece that brings me closer to the original design of Dimitri for headshots and building up the references for commissioning the character to others. I'm excited because I think I'm getting the look I want in all of my pieces, something I'm calling "Autumn Twilight Franzetta." It's about strong shadows and strong sunset glows, inspired by Frank Frazetta & subsurface scattering of warm light. This video here was an incredible breakdown of his approach. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cqs.....ZnJhemV0dGE%3D
I'm using morpho butterflies as a motif as I love their colours and how vivid they are, which mean a lot to me, to add some special touches. Aesos has given me good direction, and I'm going to be brave enough to erase the linework and go for a full painterly style soon.
It's a growing direction for me, and I feel quiet pride in what I'm creating.
