Watch out for the devious wolves, though. They'll getcha.
This was a doodle that got out of control; I couldn't stand to not color it, but I stopped when certain lines ended. I flipped through a book on architecture from the 70's today, and it was all brutalist. I was going to draw the pleated pennyloafers directing someone up a shrill orange carpeted concrete stair, but I became more interested in the sinister characters that such buildings inspired in me. I guess this is me coming out for my shell and becoming more interested in the characters rather than the background? This is a good thing.

my college of education building is totally brutalist, as well as the tallest building on campus. the latter is amazing inside, filled to the brim with shades of brown and beige and a labyrinth floorplan. everyone thinks its the ugliest building on campus. how awfully wrong they really are.
Thanks! I still love backgrounds. It's just that these guys have been calling to me recently, and I enjoy drawing characters with more detail as I increase my skill level.
I haven't a clue as to what those kangaroos have planned for you. Only one way to find out; Time to climb the stairs to the upper levels of the atrium, past the administration offices and the maintenance level, and up to the floor that's been boarded up since the late 80's...It's this kind of scenario that such buildings inspire in me.

Reminds me of a John Baldessari work that I can't remember the name of. (someone was belittling conceptual art by saying that it's "just pointing at things" so Baldessari went and got a bunch of different technically proficient painters from craft-fairs and stuff and directed them to paint hands pointing at things)
Excellent music video featuring primarily brutalist architecture: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p4HmyVr2Bo
