Since I enjoy drawing character portraits and use it as something of a "comfort subject"/way to relax while staying productive art-wise, here's more portrait cuteposting.
This one was the result of me noticing there were a lot of rabbits when I was going for walks earlier in the summer, and deciding to throw Buck Donner's color palette and aesthetics at my Jakala (Space Jackalope) species for the hell of it. I actually sorta like how this turned out, even if I'm not really sure what to use him for aside from having him be some sort of space pilot and making "Thumper with a Dumper" jokes when I inevitably draw him being Buck Donner but as a Space Jackalope.
I'm honestly sorta indifferent to rabbits, I find them to be overrated in terms of popularity, but it wouldn't hurt to have a bit more variety of creature I draw and to explore them a bit more and maybe develop an appreciation for them like I did for rodents.
Find Me On:
FurAffinity ◈ Weasyl ◈ Ko-Fi ◈ Inkbunny
Not-so-fun fact: when I was doing a little bit of research on the "jackalope" myth, I found out that there's actually some sort of infection (I forgot the name of) that causes animals, and especially rabbits, to develop long growths or tumors that resemble horns. Yikes. Of course, that evolved into folklore, and in turn, fake taxidermy projects used in tourist traps in the early 20th century.
Also I chose the name "Dik" because it could pass for a shortened form of "Dominic" if you don't think about it too much, it sounds a lot like "Buck", looks and sounds like a Star Wars name, and there's that tiny antelope called "dikdik", while "Denerek" is basically "What if "Donner" but Star Wars".
