Jelly Dragons (Open Species) Guide
I’ve been so in love with this concept recently, so I figured I’d make some guidelines in case others wanted to make one too :D
This guide is a little barebones for now, but it gets the job done :)
SPECIES RULES:
- do your best to follow the guidelines (if you do mess up, which should be pretty difficult with how loose the guidelines are, I’ll just send you a message letting you know and you can just fix the problem or make a note of it in the description to make sure others don’t get confused, no big deal)
- I suggest you limit yourself to 2 colors for the tail (the effect only requires 2 colors to work, and you don’t wanna make it too hard on yourself), 3 for the body, then possibly an extra one for the hair (could also use the same color for body patterns). This isn’t a strict rule, but I find it really helps for consistency.
- please credit me for my idea (“Species by FurlongNotEqualTo8, <linking back to my page or this post>” is enough for me)
- please send me your work, I’d love to see what you make :D (a reply to this post or a comment on my page works great)
- Other site (FA or other) specific guideline: I’ll be collecting all of my jelly dragon content on my DA page. It would be really helpful for me if you share it with me here even if you mainly post somewhere else, tho understandable if you can’t for whatever reason (if you can’t, I will repost with your permission)
- General ToS for my characters, or species in this case (credit, content, and nsfw rules)

note: this guide will probably be edited/redone in the future. All I really will be changing tho is perhaps splitting traits up into rarities or adding a couple more restrictions. However, fear not! If you make a jelly dragon and then later on it becomes an “illegal” or “rare” trait, I will not make you change it. As long as it has been sent to me before I update this I will count it as a legacy dragon, with now disallowed features grandfathered in :)
