“Write what you know.” - Mark Twain
Be sure to place the link for your completed story in the comments section of this post so we can find it. If you are late in posting, placed the link in both the comments section of the prompt, and the comments section of the current prompt, but please tag it as a late comer.
You might consider making your own TP icon to announce your story as such. Readers watch for this and will respond.
If you do participate in the Thursday Prompt remember that is good form to read your fellow participants. If you wish to give a critique, ask if the writer wishes one and then send it along in a private note.
Always remember; we are all writers together.
This week’s prompt is given to us by a random word generator. Your story will be based upon the random sentence, shown below, and should be written in the 365 word challenge mode (exactly 365 words in the body of the text):
When will a joke slide?

I'm not going to be able to contribute anything to the Thursday Prompt for a while, at least three or four weeks. I'm typing this very awkwardly with my right hand and barely managing it; I experienced a momentary, sudden state of altered consciousness while I was with my brother on our Thursday grocery errand this afternoon, and fell, heavily, twice, once on my face and then again on my back, striking and lacerating the back of my skull and scalp and tearing the heck out of my nose.
What the first fall also did was break three bones in my left hand when it tried and failed to stop me from hitting the concrete; I just got back from St. Michael's Hospital with a wrapped hand and forearm splint bracing my left extremities. I cannot use a mouse, my stylus or a pencil to write and I can barely type on my keyboard at a snail's pace of right-handed touchtyping, nor will I be able to use a knife and fork or eat normally for several weeks.
Please forgive the trespass of my absence for the time being; it is extremely difficult for me to use a computer or eat normally and it will be nearly impossible for me to respond online for the better part of a month.
One last thing: in the name of God in Heaven's love and mercy, do not tell me I can learn to eat, draw or use a mouse with my right hand. I've tried more than once, and it is not possible. I am extreme right-brain dominant and this is hardwired in, cannot be retasked or unlearned. My right hand is as clever as my left but is spatially abysmally stupid, and it will function by a genera of oppositional dysgraphia, or interfere with my southpaw if it tries to 'help'.

Well, here's mine. I actually made it in this week! Though I kinda...sorta...completely blew the word count by double. Hey, it's under a thousand though, so that's good, right?

Brought to you by a very liberal interpretation of the words "will," "joke," and "slide."
