Sprites are sooo time consuming. I've always wanted to make a game sprite of one of my anthro characters and now I am on my way. All I need is a jump, a crouch, a run and at least two different attacks.

Awesome. ^_^ I tried doing pixel art once...Sucked at it completely. Tried doing pretty much the same thing you're attempting to accomplish, and was going to go as far as your goals, simple actions like walking and running, crouching and jumping, and some attacks. I had a stand pose but it wasn't that great...And that was after like ten attempts, so, I gave up and just tossed it all.
I tried this a few years before, so I have a little bit of experience already.
It's really just about understanding how pixels work and how to make the look the way you want to. After playing 2D fighters for the past five years, I finally have a good grasp of these concepts.
