It might be 11am when Cole finally decides to get out of bed and into the same clothes he's discarded the day before (or early this morning, same difference), and exit the apartment. Still, probably not a good idea to just wander around the block aimlessly. So getting in the elevator, he decides to go up instead of down. Wandering in the upper levels where he has no business being is a pretty interesting experience. Doesn't feel as much like he's trespassing into a forbidden territory as when he was a child but nonetheless, oddly thrilling. The corridors are painted a slightly different color and the gallery is roofless, much more exposed to the elements – today, sun and no wind whatsoever, as if the world has stopped. There is barely any noise from the traffic below, stuffed by density of the air and the greater distance with the streets which are probably near empty anyway. The view is also much nicer than from his own floor; he can see beyond the blocks, the gym, and nearby city limits, and far away the Zenith modern art institute, that weird shimmering thing beyond the woods. He always thought it looked like a large spacecraft and one recurring childhood roleplay was pretending like aliens had landed, something like that. And then they had gone a few times with his family. Of course, an unsettling place; that's pretty much the point of it. Does he want to be unsettled today of all days?
There is a train line that stops there and goes to Zenith, it stops very near the ZMAI. He might want to go there this afternoon instead of just playing videogames and browsing like a terminally online loser. Plus he's got the odd and nagging idea that he needs to earn some money today. That's random, and he just wonders how much better his odds of making a cent in the outside world as opposed to sitting at the computer.
