A wonderful piece done by the ever amazing
kippurable of my character, Keet, the Vulpes Arcanus! He's quite fond of blending actual wizardy with the magician's art, and he's really good at it.
The audience peered up at the stage in stunned silence. The small red fox sitting on his haunches looked out into the dark theater, spying the hundreds of eyes looking up at him expectantly. He wasn't nervous, even though they were watching his every move closely. His tail tip wiggled slightly, concealing the cleverly crafted spell, his magical wand tapping the deck of cards. Slowly, the ace of hearts floated up out of the box, seeming as though the wand itself was commanding it to rise. The fox's ears twitched as he heard the audience inhale slowly, a collective short gasp from the assembled crowd. He then gave a quick jerking motion with his paw, and the card neatly flipped out and stuck to the end of the wand. Pushing it out toward the audience, he grins over the top of it and asked, "Is this your card?"
Completing their gasp, the assembled creatures were shocked into silence for a brief moment before erupting into cheers and lots of clapping paws. Keet smiled widely, showing off the barest hint of his pearly white teeth and he took a bow. He lived for moments like this. Not the applause specifically for his clever craft, but the sheer enjoyment of the assembled crowd. Their positive energy and amusement was a drug, and the fox was addicted to it. Rising up again from the bow, he tossed the card into the air, and it neatly slid back into the box before he tucked it away into his vest.
"Now, I'm sure all of you have dreamed about having a duplicate of yourself. One to work while the other plays. Or perhaps you just want a partner for those lonely nights." He grins and winks at the audience, as if sharing a common thought. "Do I have any volunteers for a complicated science experiment?" He flashed the audience another smile. This trick would be amazing. A perfect blend of science, alchemy, and true wizardry.
