Previously, Daniel LaGrange was zealot, who mercilessly hunted down wrongdoers until he discovered that good, taken to extremes basically became evil.
After that he searched for ways to redeem himself. Among these was some lunatic quest to try and find an ancient book, as told in the song "...And Daryil Answered".
