Nina's husband used to work for the CPR. After he died, to honor his memory, she would wave at the Rocky Mountaineer trains every time on both the outward and return journeys. She became so popular with RM staff that they become quite concerned if she's not there. Once she even wrote them a letter telling them she would be away for the week.
