The sergal you may ahve seen here is temporarily in storage. Part of the reason is that I'm doing costumes for an amateur production of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'; the other reason is that I've been working on this project.
Inspired some by Comet, the Paintball Playin' Deer <http://www.hbci.com/~tyger/paintball/deer.html> I decided to add to my paintball persona collection by creating a deer that looked, well, real. Fairly real, anyway. It's based on the JT Elite Headshield because I needed a solid base to mount the real deer antlers. (Don't fuss, I bought them at a flea market.) The helmet was modified and the mounting points were relocated to fit my enormous head, and the antlers were attached with sheet metal screws and reinforced with hot glue. The muzzle extension is made from sheet foam, felt and plastic canvas and is attached with cable ties for easy removal at need. The ears use more felt and are shaped to fit using carpenter's glue. Finally, a tinted anti-fog visor keeps me RL face from being seen. All he needs is some hunting clothes... and a name.
Looking forward to trying it out when the weather breaks...

Actually, what you want to try is quite easy. You can use plastic canvas or dense foam rubber (I'd look for Scottfoam, which passes air easily) to sculpt the muzzle, and cover everything with fur. It'll be pretty warm on a summer's day but not excessively so. I went the route I did with this and the paintball lion (http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2084968/) because I wanted it to look like there was a mask over the fur.
If this seems outside your skill set - it shouldn't be, working wiith these materials is surprisingly easy, as I used to tell my fursuit and plush-making classes - perhaps I can help. Feel free to IM me. I've been known to answer, sometimes in the same week...
There's lots of painball furs, but for some reason we never seem to get together at the same time... and I'm one of the VERY few who play in the fur. It would be great, though, for a bunch of us to do so all together - the rebirth of my old team, The Endangering Species...
