Fringeworlds - Martian Reds Cigarette Packaging
Bit of a different one today -- this is my first try at using a vector program. It was a bit frustrating, but I think I did pretty well!
Martian Reds are a legend among smokers in the Diaspora, and small shipments -- a mere few thousand cartons a year, in most cases -- find their way to even the most remote reaches of human-occupied space. Situated among the picturesque and well-to-do business districts of Olympus Mons, the worker-owned Martian Reds Company has been involved in the politics of the Red Planet for nearly three centuries now, donating a staggering 30% of its pre-tax sales figures to the construction of new arcologies, automated farming complexes, and forestry initiatives. This, along with a proprietary oxidizer compound which allows statistically-safe (all else being equal) indulgence of smoking habits in the harsh atmosphere of Mars -- and many a border world -- has ensured a lasting popularity, and a not-insignificant economic boon to the Martian Confederation.
Mars may never realize its dream of becoming a garden world for Sol, but its citizens will be right well damned if they don't try. Step into the shoes of a Martian Ranger today -- Martian Reds will be with you every step of the way.
EDIT: By the way! I worked under the assumption that the SVG of Sojourner was public domain -- if it's not, and the copyright holder reads this and would rather it be removed, let me know. It was partially chosen as a placeholder for an empty flap, but on retrospect I feel a landscape of the Martian terrain plus forests might be more applicable anyhow.

Sadly, the most obvious "general tip" I can give is practice and experiment. I don't know how Inkscape works in relation to Adobe Illustrator, which is what I've been using. I'd also like to say I'm sorry for the previous post, which sounds to me like a lot of talking down. Why I went through with posting it, I'm not sure.
