My greatest musical acheivement (without a guitar) so far.
A friend wanted something with a swinging beat, but still driving enough to dance to. sooo... here's what i came up with.
As far as mastering and panning, i haven't had time to do that because of some artistic commissions i'm working on, but hopefully i'll have it done soon.
CRITICISM PLEAAAASE!!!

True criticism would be in the drums. The snare action and beat structure is way too stiff and simplistic. The main “thud” drum, the one that keeps the beat, is good but the sound pallet of it is too rough to be dropped in the way it was. As is true with a lot of techno I hear, I would have made this piece more progressive, introducing more complexity in the main synth melody structure as the tune progressed. That being said I REALLY like the feel of what you did with the highspeed arppediator (don’t know how to spell that lol) track on top of the slower “string like” synth patch. I guess I’m just a sucker for that kind of thing. ^^
I totally agree with everything you say here.
My biggest weakness in music is the percussion i use, mostly because of a lack of samples and loops. (I dont have much to work with, sadly.)
Complexity is one thing i love to add, but its extremely time consuming, and i dont have much time to work with. When i go back and master this, ill be sure to change it up quite a bit.
As for an arpeggiator, i wish i had one, but everything you hear was midi`d out, note by note. (hence the lack of time for other things)
Thanks very much for the constructive criticizm, and i`ll be sure to take as much of your advice as possible.

Samples and loops are nice but don’t let not having them keep you from working. I know it’s time consuming but when you do get the time make your own loops and such. Once you have a nice base of your own stuff you can draw on it. Yeah I know about every thing taking a lot of time >.< it’s really hard to work at music when you don’t have enough time @.@. So you don’t use an appegiator, very cool ^^. I have one but ironically I find myself not using it because it restricts how I can modify melody structures. A slight change here and a slight change there, even just one or 2 notes some times can make all the difference in the world and give the tune much more listening longevity. Hehe thanks for responding well to my criticism ^^. You should I know I don’t bother going into details if I don’t like the tune already ^^.
