The camera flash obscuring the killers face in the mirror is such a good touch... Man I don't know if I want to eventually see him so he can suffer some sort of horrific karma for his past deeds or if I just want to never actually know more about this guy cus like... No good is going to come of that...
I believe the story is that she was killed by her ex (or current?) boyfriend after heading home from a party, being stalked and then having him break in while she tried to call the cops.
She died, horrifically and had her murder taped. After that she spent a long time haunting various people until a few decades later she and the male protagonist (who apparently has a Shining like ability to interact with ghosts) meets and starts to date her, unaware of her true nature, then ends up effectively becoming her host and primary haunting victim, being plagued with nightmares of her murder from her perspective and being terrified of her before eventually managing to get over his fears and actually start working to help her actually 'live' something like a normal life with a genuinely loving relationship.
I think the most recent point in the cannon is the series where they are driving late at night and end up meeting what is either another ghost or another person with an ability like the guys who warns Carol that her actions are not going unnoticed and that the couples troubles might be getting allot worse in the not so distant future.
