This is one of my best railroad photographs from 2010.
Four units- three SD70Ms and a C44-9W- wait on a runner track with an autorack train, while another train, led by an ES44DC waits. Meanwhile, both trains are overtaken by BNSF C44-9W #762, a former Santa Fe "warbonnet". Behind it is a Norfolk Southern C40-8W. All this BNSF power belies the fact that this is actually the Indiana Harbor Belt Railway in Calumet City, Illinois, and the moving train here is actually Norfolk Southern's, bound for Gibson Yard, in Hammond, Indiana, just across the state line from here.

I was always deeply in love with Warbonnets. Ever since I first saw a picture of one. The classic red and silver colors of the Santa Fe will be greatly missed.
Reminds me of this stanza from the song "God Bless the Santa Fe" by BNSF's Chuck Gierhart and sung by Lee Greenwood
From Chicago to the Texas Coast, going westward to LA
Across those golden waves of grain to the San Francisco Bay
Come on and stand up and wave to her and help her on her way
She'll be run be folks like you and me
God Bless the Santa Fe
It almost makes me wanna cry every time I hear that.
