-mancer is half an abbreviation for an individual or individuals who specialize in a special type of magic. The first half of the abbreviation tells us the specialization of said magic, such as cryo-mancer, lipo-mancer, pyro-mancer etc. Originally -macers were uncommon and rare but as time went on they passed their craft onto students, children, fellow -mancers and it became more widespread. unfortunately this lead to more "incidents" of unqualified or out right villainous individuals abusing said magic such as former guild member Mesmeralda who specialized in over a dozen forms of -mancy catgorized under the label of Circus-mancy. To combat this the guild of Curse enforcement was developed to recruit capable -mancers and punish those deemed unworthy and for awhile it worked well. However all good things must come to an end as the guild became less about punishing rouge -mancers and more about punishing anyone who annoyed them or who refused to join them. smaller guilds can exist but they do their best to remain under the radar. -mancers found worthy of punishment are handed over to the guild's second in command the toy-mancer Doll who uses his ability to transform and imprison rouge -mancers in the form of inanimate objects or toys to be stored until further notice.
