Rillon was one of the few eggs that the Guardians vowed to protect that survived the attack on the temple from the apes. Due to Spyro's legacy that he had to uphold, the Guardians put his eggs off to the side to be hidden away. When he hatched, he trained alongside Spyro and learned of the Guardians skills and abilities. The older he got, the smarter he became and worked along with Spyro to protect the Dragon realm from potential threats.
(I played the first 2 TLOS games, but haven't for so long I forget the lore myself of Spyro, the apes, etc)
