As more industries move towards remote work, health insurance coverage becomes more difficult. It used to be that the company would buy the local version of insurance and it meet their employee's needs, but now more workers are far away and some insurance groups have weak coverage outside of the state. Some clients I have worked with place medical benefits above compensation. Do not just accept "full medical coverage" at face value, do your research and see if it will work in your area and with you/your family's known health conditions.
No lie, this tip came about due to spite. My company was recently acquired by another and one, of the many, things that changed was our dental coverage. The issue is the parent company's choice of dental provider is premium for Alabama, but I work remote out of Michigan. It took our family months to find a new dentist that was within driving distance who offered quality care. I did not have any choice in picking the dental provider...
PS: Any requests for topics for these job tips? I usually wrote about whatever comes to mind, but I am happy to write towards any relevant topic.
