Captain's log supplemental, Stardate 23188:
It's ten o'clock at night and I've been up with the Leader for the last nineteen hours. We've scarcely eaten a full meal and our blood crackles with caffeine and sugar.
Our forteen day journey to test my skills as a professional truck driver has had its obstacles, but with one more week the month-long evaluation will be complete and I'll be given the rights to my own vehicle and job roster.
I figured you might want to see what the cockpit looks like. You'll notice the fancy electronic dash courtesy of Kenworth.
On the right are a truck GPS system that manages truck routes, my leader's phone piping music into their Bluetooth headphones, and the specially designed tablet with all the firmware to track and complete deliveries. While driving, it shows the hours on our various DOT mandated clocks.
If you want to know anything about life on the road, just ask.
It's no picnic, but it's still mostly spent in an air conditioned cab with food and water to boot. Long hours and unusual shifts are sprinkled with the chaos of drivers who really shouldn't have a license.
John Sludge, signing off.
