This is the fourth picture in my series featuring anthro parrot girls.
A blue and gold macaw represents the macaw picture... but she has other macaw friends because they are all full of win! The Hahn's macaw in particular an extremely cute macaw and definately my favorite of the macaw family, though I chose to go with the blue and gold (my second favorite) because they're more well know.

Heh. In the case of the Spix's -- no. It's already extinct in the wild, and what few remain are under pretty extreme lock and key in a captive breeding programme. It's alot more likely to get them some much-needed publicity and maybe a donation or two.
As for macaws in general? They are hideously expensive as parrots go. Not like cheap baby chicks / baby bunnies; very very few people would impulse-buy a macaw, particularly in this economy, and since they're not that common in captivity to begin with, increased demand will only drive their price up further - as it should be. They are NOT easy birds to keep.
I'm not that worried.
