There is this kind of martial art in wich its ALL about self defense, so there isn't actually "dirty fighting" in it as long as you survive... of course one of the first rules is if you can escape, do so... and I agree, if its not a tournament, there is nothing as dirty fighting.
That seems like it would be a practical one to learn! I took some jujitsu many years ago and it was all about throws and using your opponents weight against them. Seems like it would be similar maybe. As for street fighting yeah, my objective would either be to win or get away, preferably the latter :P

Krav maga was developed for military purpose, and then adapted for civilians and police enforcement, its not israel's way of giving the terrorist what they want as you say, and rejecting something just because where it was made? you won't stop using Microsoft windows XP would you? you know, most of those were made there, also Motorola Celphones were invented there, besides the fact that, every day the citizens are in danger of lethal threats? seriously? have you talked to an israeli? do you have any idea how they live? I really doubt that.
and as a side note, in italy some schools of comando krav maga opened to teach women hand to hand combat to, guess what, to defend from attacks and rape, and Krav maga is teached in the USA to police officers as well, stop judging something from where it comes.

I don't see where you get this idea I think it's "bad". I am in support of self-defense. =P I would think my avatar makes that damn obvious.
But hey, you want to label me ignorant? Fine. I am; I admit it. I don't double-check my sources, and I don't do research. If you want to educate me, go ahead.
But drop the attitude. There's no need to jump on my case 'cause I misspoke or you misunderstood, whatever the case may be. I'm teachable. But not by those who are going to treat me like an idiot or a jackass. Seriously. I was just trying to add to the conversation, however poorly.
I haven't talked to an Israeli, no. But I've read and seen enough to give me the impression that they've got it rough right now. If you've got something to disprove that, show me. I am teachable. I may not like my views being proven wrong, but I do wish to learn.
Whatever the origins of Krav Maga, I fully support it being taught. Martial arts save lives every day. Why not develop another one? Please make no assumptions about me. I am not who you think I am.

Well, it's all a matter of opinion as to what's "dirty" fighting. For something to be "dirty", there has to be standards for a "clean" fight, and who set's such arbitrary standards. A fight is something of a primal thing, and in the end, there are no rules; you do what you have to to be the last one standing. How you go about it in the end doesn't really matter.

Yeah, warfare and sporting tournaments are a whole different thing than like, street brawling, and as such have different standards of what's dirty or not. Pretty subjective thing! We concluded the same though, you do what you gotta do to win in situations like the one above lol

Daww, thank you! ; ; <3 I actually do draw humans quite a bit, and drew them before I got back into furry hehe. I have a deviantart that I never update any more with a lot of my human art on it (tho as I said, it's not something I've updated lately), and I make art posts on my livejournal every once so often with a mixed bag of art that includes humans. :>
To me a trained martial artist is just as much a weapon as me using a baseball bat. There is no fair in fighting. You are trying to hurt the other person to save yourself. Where is the fair in that?

It's not a movie, and it's not a boxing match or some MMA match with pre-determined rules, it's real life and when an asshole wants to mess with you, do whatcha gotta do to win! Letting them "take the first swing" means you sometimes won't be conscious enough to give the second

ah ha ha, I'm also of fighting Irish origin, but I only use dirty tricks if the other does first . I've only been in one fight, and I had to fight dirty. Some skater wanna-be got in a one-on-one tangle with my little brother, I didn't step in 'till the skater knocked lil bro over with an elbow to the ribs then started wailing on him while he was down. Skater punk was then lifted off the ground and thrown by 200lb of pissed big sis X'D
But anyway, I absolutely love everything about this, the angles, expressions, and of course Irish ass-kicking action!

I don't like fighting. I try to stay out of fights. You seriously want to fight me? I'll do whatever it takes to get to the end with as little damage to me as possible. If that means kicking you in the balls, so be it. You brought it on yourself. But I'm going to try and not be the one who hits first. That way, if I can get out on just being hit once, I can charge you with assault. If not, I'm going straight for the 'cheap' shot.
Thankfully, I've as of yet not had to be in such a situation.
