Carousel: The great clown mane. Jesters wear then too. That poofy frilly thing around their necks they seem to love, sometimes overly distracting, sometimes subtle. I think they use their clown mane as some sort of sign of status among their group. Big, colorful, proud manes are seen as higher ranking...demanding more respect for their craft. Smaller, dull, sad one are the lesser ones of the group, like runts or bottom of the social ladder. I've also seen fancy shiny ones for the royal, or dark sinister ones for the outcasts. Some clowns( (jesters) even use patterns and mixing colors on their manes to intimidate rivals!...Or, perhaps, catch the eye of a special someone?
Ballo: "Carousel, what are you doing?"
Carousel: "Nothing! Mind your business."
Ballo: "I would. If you'd stop messing with my collar."
Carousel: ...I guess it could just be a fashion accessory. It you want to be boring like that.
