While going through my and Tomoe's chat history I found this amazing gem I've since forgotten, and felt like redrawing it for real!
Anyway, this is most probably just a regular guard! I imagine soldiers and high-ranking officials would have a shield, maaaybe some very simple pieces of armor here and there. A spear is already quite the thing to have, but even the greedy empire tries to equip all of their men of arms with at least a basic weapon - an advantage over wild animals and outsiders.
Seeing as I already reached my income limit for this month and cannot accept any more commissions, I have time to do more personal stuff. Shame I have literally 0 inspiration and motivation right now ughhH
