Representing a society where might gives you the right to take as you please (and at 10ft tall and averaging 1800lb his kind aren't exactly lacking in might), he knows that sometimes not punching a new contact in the face to take everything can lead to results with a much bigger payout.

Not that he's above the chance to cower others and make them feel insignificant. But he definitely gets something out of using his presence and way with words to do that over brute force.
