I went hunting up and down looking for the 90mm version of the AML 60, but I kept finding images of the 60mm mortar carrier instead. Imagine my surprise when I discover that the 90mm version is called the AML 90.

I figure that armored cars, being lightly armored in general, have a niche in any tactics where the enemy doesn't have widespread access to antitank weaponry or heavy gun emplacements. In most of the developing world an armored car is a significant force multiplier. It's also cheap and easy to keep maintained compared to a tank.
This is very true, and I would've been better off if I'd phrased it "armored cars are a thing that so many nations specialize in weird ways".
Thus the Indian-Pattern rolls with its turret mounting quad machine guns at ninety degrees to each other, or the heavily-armed lightly-armored 'light tank killers' like the AML 90 and the SdKfz 254 that switched between being tracked or being wheeled by lowering different suspension sets into contact with the ground...Or the Opperman Scorpion or some of the weird multi-turret Fiats. There are some that you really can't call an armored car anymore (even though the initial design thought of them that way) like the LAV-600. There are quite a few that make me curious exactly what the engineers designing them thought they were going to be used for.
(And I still think a Daimler Dingo would've been funny.)

It's a French armored car in a former French colony, but they're not French troops.
It's interesting to note that France is one of the world's top arms exporters. Before any Yankees get too sanctimonious, the U.S. is the world's #1 top arms exporter by a considerable margin.

It may be US, Germany, Israeli, Russian, British, French, WWII Surplus though the Israeli may be in a category by themselves....Not sure if they still sell there weapons to none UN countries.

I realize that.
Or they buy old equipment. E.g. the Egyptian tanks during the revolt were old M60 tanks.
Speaking of WWII surplus, a lot of countries took over nazi armoury. (why not? they still work! XD)
Wait... I thought Canada was part of NATO. Didn't they like, do the NATO standardization etc. during the Cold war against the Soviets?

Yeh and NORAD too
Nato and Norad are left overs from the Cold war.
All Canada Missiles where Under the Canadian Shield in Rail Tunnels.... hard to Explain.
now they are just for Home Defence now but they are being Mobilized to be a Stop Gap if Qaddafi bombs his people again.
You know the AWAK Radar and the like that was used first on the Old Canadian Aircraft
not Sure but I think Ottawa did not Dismantle after Cold War because there where no assembled missiles to begin with.

Yeh well they are throw away.
Extendable Fibreglass Tube... Point General Direction press Back Trigger and Bang. Canada stopped using them.... Possibly because the Carl Gustaf Recoilless Rifle Ammo is cheaper and can be used as a burst and Penetration Weapon.. Meaning soft and Hard Targets.

Ha! Great page.
I love the look on Fred's face in that tiny panel on the left. Priceless. Just keep driving, Fred.
My only confusion was who exactly was speaking at the end of the page, though, if I remember correctly, it's Colonel Fatty the gorilla, so... The armored car commander?
