That what i notice, he realy does have a looking of a main characters, and as you see a from a side story , maybe the main story view from him side ^^
How he encounter his friends , and how he went to aventure , or some backstory before he came to the main one , that could work on him :3

Yeh I have thought about his story a little bit, how he was in a tribe of water frogs like him, but he was the more brash and hotheaded one and left the tribe to pursue his own ambitions. That and the connection he has with Pelicus and Aodhan is very endearing.
