This is a Walt Disney(C) audio reel from 1954. (Recorded on SCOTCH MAGNETIC TAPE!)
I found it in our [still working condition] record player. If we could find something to play this, it's probably around 8 hours of music I think.
Now, you can read the front, so I'm not gonna repeat that. here's what the majority of the back says:
"The 'Desert Suite' selections from 'The Living Desert', Walt Disney's first feature-length, true-life, adventure film, is composed of a series of musical vignettes:
1. The mud pots make a bizzarre symphony of their own.
2. The millipedes squirm over the sand like a streamlined train.
3. A billowing snake does a ballet by the light of the desert moon.
4. Skinny, a little ground squirrel, by quickness and agility, drives away the dread gila monster.
5. in the finale the desert bursts into bloom after one of the occasional desert rainstorms.
[This rec]ording of the 'Desert Suite' was made under the ideally selected conditions [recordi]ng a symphony orchestra composed of 54 of America's great musicians. [____?]core, by Paul Smith, will be acclaimed by music lovers, first for its fine contemporary music, and second because of its unusually complete instrumentation, including some instruments seldom heard such as the brass flute and Persian finger cymbals. Delicate English horn solos to full open brass with clashing cymbals and tympani. create dynamic range of sound that can only be captured and reproduced with modern magnetic tape recording techniques."
"Super modern", guys. But yeah, I couldn't really find any information about this online. o.O
Now the net's letting me load pages, I found a Wikipedia entree on it. I'mma read up on that.
Although Disney(C) is known for very childish things, they had some sophisticated music.
