Character

Kjeld was born on farm in a valley in the mountains in southern Norway. He seemed to be destined to take over the family farm, a long lineage of Clydesdale equitaurs, who still worked their land in the traditional way without any machinery. In his youth, he had to work the land together with his family. It was tough an heavy work, but his muscular Clydesdale body was fit for the job. He was quite content with this simple life, and foresaw this as his future. That was until the Wellspring War broke out...

A young adolescent Kjeld was drafted into the war, to defend his homeland from outside, but moreover from within. A domestic terrorist group of religious zealots had managed to blow up the Oslo Wellspring and unleashed magical chaos in the region. Kjeld was recruited into a group of special forces whose task it was to find and neutralise these terrorists, and ensure stability returning back to Norway again. The training was tough, but Kjeld was used to this kind of hard work. His superiors praised him for his discipline, and he was assigned to a mission to get the head of this religious extremist organisation: Tenshi, a Kitsune, praised like a god by her followers, but who had a great lust for power. Kjeld's team managed to neutralise her and end the threat. But the rush of adrenaline he had during the mission was a feeling he couldn't get enough of. Life in the military was really attractive to him, and decided to stay there even after the war.

Years later, he was hired to serve on the Pioneer, to strengthen its security team, and more importantly, to train them. He became the ship's drill sergeant, both feared and respected. He's also the one who takes charge at special military away missions of the ship, and is a licensed field medic if any emergency may arise. However, he's not that strict outside his roll, where he's more often quite loose. He often shares a drink with his colleagues, telling tall tales about the War, and tries to flirt with the ladies, though not with a lot of success. He doesn't really understand what the scientists and engineers are doing on the ship, as he has always been more brawn than brains. However, if one thinks he can outsmart the drill sergeant, they may be unpleasantly surprised if he finds out. He does not hesitate to put boastful recruits in their place.

He is, however, never really comfortable on this ship. He suffers from claustrophobia, and the narrow corridors on the ship make him uncomfortable not only physically, but also mentally...
