The small affirmative beeps of the retina scanner tickled the wolfox’s ears before he blinked and leaned back. The sliding doors opened and allowed him entrance to the headquarters of the Lady League. Shadowlight stepped into the building, and moved through toward the garage. He waved to Convix as he passed. She was sitting at a computer terminal working on something. She only nodded at him as he passed her before going back to concentrating on her work.
When he rounded the next corner he stopped just short of bumping into Amazon. The taller more muscular tigress stood there with Lady Sunrise. They looked to be getting ready to go out on patrol together. “Hello Shadowlight. Is your vacation over already?” asked the kitsune politely as she saw him.
“Good morning Sunrise, Amazon. Yes. The I.D. said my cab was ready to be picked up so I’ll be back in action this afternoon.” he replied.
“Just when I was getting used to things being normal around here. Welcome back I guess.” grumbled the tigress as she regarded the male.
“Come now Amazon. I have it on good authority that you enjoy my little ‘training sessions.’” he said with a smirk.
“Whose authority would that be?” she asked as she flashed him her fangs in a subtly threatening manner.
“Mine of course. I’m there too you know. And I’ve heard you make very interesting sounds when I…” he replied before he froze. His eye followed her arm through the sudden rushing wind and sound of her fist hitting the wall next to him. He looked back at her to see the angry look on her face now. He could hear small bits of the wall hitting the floor from the stress cracks she’d left in it with her punch.
“How about we see how much you enjoy a ‘training session’ from me?” she asked angrily.
“An interesting prospect to be sure. Two things though; for one you’d have to catch me. And two, how do we know I wouldn’t actually enjoy a little Snu-Snu if you did?” he asked smugly.
A loud growl emanated from the muscle bound tigress before a familiar hand took hold of her elbow and pulled her attention away from the still smirking wolfox male.
“Come Amazon. We should begin our patrol. See you later Shadowlight.” Lady Sunrise prodded. Amazon only grunted in annoyance as she turned to walk off with the kitsune swordswoman.
Shadowlight watched the pair leave before he let out a sigh of relief. He knew she wouldn’t hurt him, but the force she’d displayed was still a little jarring. A light poof sound behind him caught his attention before a new voice entered his hearing. “Nice try. But Amazon would like never admit to that willingly. Especially with others around.” came the familiar voice of Bunny Hop as Shadowlight turned to greet her. “Welcome back Foxy. I’ve missed you. Things have been really boring around here without you around.” she said cheerfully as her voice moved to behind him again after another poof sound.
“Heya Hopper. Thanks?” he replied confused as he noticed she was no longer where he had heard her before. A playful giggle tickled his hearing from behind him again as he started to turn around again.
“Ah-ah. Bad Foxy. You didn’t tell me you were coming back today so I’m not prepared for visitors. I just got out the shower…and I’m naked.” she teased as another poof sound preceeded her voice coming from behind him again.
“You know that only makes me want to see you more.” he said as he continued to turn. Her playful giggling laughter continued as she began to rapidly teleport around him. Always staying just out of his line of sight no matter how quickly he turned. After a moment he came to a stop. “Alright alright. I give. I won’t try to look anymore.” he said slightly disappointed. A new poof sound put the bunny heroine directly behind him again.
“So…now that you’re back; when is my next ‘training session’?” she asked as she slightly hugged him from behind. As she did so she lightly pressed her ample chest against the male’s back.
“Whenever you’d like one, or I could surprise you. Either way I can promise it won’t be long.” he replied. He could feel her teasing hands moving slowly toward the crotch of his pants.
“Oh good. While you may have a hard time getting some of the other league members to admit that they enjoy what you do to them when you ‘capture’ them; you won’t have that problem with me. Looking forward to it Foxy.” she cooed teasingly before she suddenly teleported away again with a final poofing sound.
Shadowlight had to close his eyes and steady himself for a moment. He’d almost forgotten how much of a flirt and tease Bunny Hop could be. The only one that beat her in audacity and outright horniness would be Catamarine. “I’d better keep moving. If Catamarine sees me I might not make it to the garage today.” he thought as he continued.
***
The sounds of clanking metal echoed off the walls of the garage. Shadowlight stepped through the large room looking around curiously at things until he came across the vehicle he was looking for. Standing next to it was Dr. Setta Flamowitz, the Iron Dragon, and another associate of the Lady League like himself. She seemed to be plugging her armor into the database of the building near the taxicab before she noticed the male approaching.
“Ah Shadowlight. Welcome back. I’ve finished the upgrades you requested I make to your cab and your visor.” she announced as he reached her. She reached to the side and brought out the visor the wolfox usually wore over his eyes.
“Good morning Dr. Flamowitz. Thank you.” he replied as she handed the item to him. When he looked it over he could plainly see something that wasn’t there when he’d dropped it off. A tiny pair of cameras was present on it now. They were very discreet, and not really noticeable unless you were up close.
“Go ahead. Put them on and I’ll walk you through the upgrades.” she said with a smile.
“Upgrades? Plural?” he thought surprised. He’d asked her to make it so that his gps could display directions on the visor for him. What else had she done to it? Obviously she was proud of her work and wanted to show it off. As he turned the visor over and lowered it over his eyes a spot in the center of his vision flashed before it covered the whole of his vision behind the visor.
“As you can see the visor now gives you a heads up display. It displays different information at all times like the date and time in the lower right corner of your vision. It can also display a to-do list on the left side as well as displaying directions for you while you drive. It’s all see through and won’t block your vision in any way. The pin point cameras on the undersides of the frame arms of the visor will allow you to analyze and scan your environment as well as subjects you’re looking at. The visor doesn’t have speakers, and instead uses special pads along the bits that make contact with your skull to utilize bone conduction to discretely ‘speak’ to you.” she explained.
“Speak to me?” he asked confused, but intrigued.
“Yes. In my tinkering I added an extra feature. I installed one of my old AI programs to run things for you and act as your personal assistant. I think you’ll like them.” said the red dragoness.
“Them? Didn’t you say it was one AI?” asked Shadowlight confused.
“Well it was a single AI at first, and it technically still is. But a glitch caused a unique issue to arise. The AI is sentient in as far as knowing that it’s an AI, but the glitch caused a second personality to emerge from it. The original name for it was LuckyManeki. I initially designed it to calculate probability. After the glitch occurred I found that there were two distinct personalities present. The main one calling itself Maneki, and the other calling itself Luck. They are both part of the same AI still, but they switch ‘control’ so to speak depending on who is addressed. If that is too distracting I can remove it.” explained the Iron Dragon to an intrigued wolfox.
“No. I think that sounds fine. I’d at least like to try them out. I don’t have an issue talking to multiple people as I often have to do in my cab. So there being a second personality won’t distract me as much as some people. How do I activate them?” asked Shadowlight.
“Just address them. The visor is already on. They respond to verbal commands.” she coaxed.
“Okay…Um…Maneki?” said Sly a little unsure. Immediately in the lower right of his vision appeared the head of a calico feline.
She had white fur a dark brown left ear, and a light brown fur patch over her left eye. Her eyes were yellow, and her long hair was brown. “Good morning Master Shadowlight. How may I be of assistance?” she asked politely.
“What are your functions?” he asked.
“Our functions include keeping your schedule, Connecting to the internet, monitoring police and hero chatter, Scaning the environment and subjects, bringing up information on subjects, and of course calculating probability. We can also connect remotely to your cab.” she recited.
“You can connect to my cab?” he asked surprised.
“Yes. One of the upgrades Dr. Flamowitz added to your cab is interconnectivity to your visor. We can even drive it for you if needed. This will allow us to help you more efficiently.” answered Maneki.
“Interesting. Speaking of ‘us’ I was told there would be another personality here. Luck?” he said.
Maneki’s head icon spun around three hundred and sixty degrees, and when it stopped it looked completely different. Now she had cream colored fur and light brown ears with yellow on the tips. Her eyes were still yellow, and her hair was still brown. “Yes Sir?” she responded.
“To streamline things, and make things less complicated I’m thinking of breaking up your functions and duties between you and Maneki. Your main jobs will be environmental and subject scanning, and subject info retrieval, probability calculation, as well as remote control of the cab when needed. Maneki’s jobs will be to keep my schedule, monitor police chatter, internet searches and news, and displaying directions. Does that sound fair to you?” he asked.
“Yes Sir. That sounds fine. It makes me happy to hear that you’ve accepted our unique…situation in stride.” said Luck in return.
“And you Maneki? Any issues with your tasks?” asked Shadowlight next.
“No Master. Thank you. We’ll do our best to support you.” said the calico feline as the head icon turned to display her face again.
“Well it seems that the initial meeting went well. Thank you for accepting them as they are. I didn’t really know what I was going to do with them myself.” said Setta as she crossed her arms in thought.
“Not a problem. Thank you for adding them.” he replied gratefully.
“They should make keeping tabs on things easier for you. They’re able to interact with you via the visor, your cab display monitor, and will inhabit your phone when you’re not driving. So you’re not tied to using specifically the visor and can take them with you in civilian mode as well.” explained the red dragon next.
“Sounds good. Now about the upgrade to my cab?” he prodded.
“Oh yes. Once I got finished interconnecting your visor and cab I thought about a few other changes I could add. And once I started I couldn’t stop. I supercharged and optimized your engine. So it’ll go a lot farther on a lot less gas. It’s fully bulletproof now, and has shield generators that can stop a variety of force and energy types. So you won’t have to use your abilities to defend it as long as the power cell has energy. Thus that’s less energy you have to use.” she explained.
“That’s awesome. Thanks again for all of this.” he said with a smile. He wasn’t expecting any of this.
“You get heavy duty tires, but since they’re changed out frequently I wasn’t able to make them bulletproof, so you’ll still have to use your ability to do that.” she commented thoughtfully as if already thinking of a way to accomplish that as well.
“Don’t worry about it. The tires I buy can take a few bullets before they pop. You’ve done plenty here. In fact you’ve done such a good job on all of this. I think you deserve a break.” he said as his smile turned into a smirk. Setta’s eyes glazed over a moment after hearing those words before she shook her head and the light returned to them.
“Hmm…You may be right. And now that I’ve walked you through your new equipment, how about I come over later and you can 'walk' me in return? Say around eight?” she asked.
“Sounds like a plan. I’ll see you later.” he said as he unlocked the door of his cab and moved to enter the vehicle. It was time to go on patrol, and see what his new upgrades could do.

Nice to see this series come back after a hiatus. I really like how you’ve incorporated Maneki and Lucky into the setting. I’m curious to see how Shadowlight initially gets on with the two. I noticed Maneki mention that they can even drive the cab for him. I can see a few possibilities for storylines there!
Yeah. It's been a while. I haven't forgotten it though, and will have a couple other things to share soon as well.
Thanks. I was inspired by "Failsafe" from Destiny 2 for putting them in. "Failsafe" is an AI for a colony ship that has two glitched personalities. One chipper and happy, the other doomer and sad. They talk one after the other and it's always a funny or interesting encounter when they're involved.
Example:
Ghost: Failsafe. Do you know about this Vex gate?
Happy Failsafe: Oh yes. I've gathered data on that particular gate.
Sad Failsafe: The Vex that murdered my crew came from there.
Obviously I'm not going with the whole competing state of minds here.
Yes. Maneki and Luck will be valuable allies to Shadowlight from here on.

Yes. They share a single brain/database/processor. The glitch only created a second personality. So it really doesn't matter which one responds they draw from the same place. Breaking up their tasks like he did only makes it more fluent and less chaotic.
I hope you do. They're separated into the Shadowlight tab in my gallery.
