Tangle from Another World - theBadFedeh
*THERE IS A STORY BELOW THE DESCRIPTION*
I do so love many of the new characters from the Sonic IDW comic.
Tangle was perhaps the first shown and her eager, hyper-active self was pretty charming at first and only got better as the story went along. She's pretty unique, cool design and just fun overall, adding new dynamics to the rather impressively wide cast of Sonic characters. So of course now she wears a bedlah, as I'm wont to do.
New artist here that I tried, theBadFedeh who I saw by pure happenstance. Saw their Sonic art, saw their commission prices and I just decided to try them out and I'm very glad I went with it! Going with a mix of Gameboyred's and Xy-Merfox design for Tangle as a genie/wearing a bedlah, I do believe she created a very nice ensemble that just works quite well with the lemur. If you do like this, do take a look at their gallery and at their commission offers https://www.deviantart.com/thebadfe.....op/commissions
And if you like my own work, meaning my tales, do check out my Patreon as well https://www.patreon.com/incredibleintruder
Now who exactly is this other Tangle and what does she do? Read on to find out!

ENTANGLED IN BANDITRY
Tangle wasn't a very good thief.
It wasn't due to a lack of skill, speed or smarts that she was so lacking rather than her own scruples were holding her back in this domain. While not the noblest of profession, if it could be called as such, she had tried her hand at roadside banditry, purse-snatching, fake games of chance, being a thug and yet it never availed to nothing for a variety of reasons. Unskilled in a lot of manual tasks due to her being a bit hyperactive and not with the greatest attention span, she could have used her own dexterous manipulation of her tail, an uncanny ability to stretch out that appendage to ridiculous length and to grab things for many greater purpose, yet the excitement of “doing bad” did supplant anything else. She wanted thrills, to be known, a mix of admiration and fear and yet she never did achieve that goal for a myriad of reasons.
Stealing an old lady's purse only to then realize she hadn't enough coins for medicine, adding some of her own to it as a result. Manipulating a kid with a small game of goblets and a single token, only for them to cry after losing all their money and thus Tangle returning it because she felt bad. Stopping a caravan that was filled with loot, only to just assist them in repairing the squeaky wheel after they ran ragged due to more successful and much more vicious thugs going after them. The dichotomy between what she wanted to be and who she actually was made her own goal a most difficult one to reach, yet still would she try as she had gotten a spot in a new bandit crew that could very well be the breakout that she'd need. The famous Babylon Rogues, Wave, Jet and Storm had been recruiting and though she didn't exactly fit their motif, they did need a fourth person for higher efficiency.
“Have you any big score to your name?” Wave asked, the brain behind the outfit, Jet the leader and Storm the muscle as they needed a more nimble addition to their roster. Her tail and her speed did indicate she could fit the bill, but the over-enthusiasm did not quite convince them as the hit would be later today. The four of them were sitting in a coffee house, inconspicuous even though Tangle made that last part especially hard. “Heist? A stash somewhere? Particular achievements?”
“Well, I'm such a good thief that none of the clothes I'm wearing I've paid for!” Tangle responded to this as while it wasn't the greatest accomplishment, it did seem to suffice. While she hadn't exactly stolen them, she did say the truth as the fez had been a gift from the old lady she helped, the bolero vest a gift from the caravan, the pantaloons and sandals donations from a charity and the sash itself payment for catching another thief, which she saw only as culling the competition rather than a good action. The bandages she had scrounged up here and there, covering her chest as the youthful and energetic lemur would hit a convoy being protected by a lonesome but highly-skilled guard. Easy coin as Storm and Jet would cause a distraction, Tangle would grab the coffers and then Wave would hide it safely to ensure they'd get their bounty even if any of them were caught. “You won't regret it. I'll snatch all those chests in a jiffy!”
A momentary demand to hush it up, a slight embarrassment on her end and then did Tangle wait for everything to be set up as she was forbidden from drinking coffee, herself being excited enough already. She hadn't even eaten today, funds being tight and she'd treat herself to a feast once this'd be done as eventually did the fateful hour come and there was indeed a small cart being pulled by a singular mule. Some beetle lady was guiding, jewel-shelled and worried as her protector wore a mask and wielded a crossbow, accompanied herself but small spirits known as Wisps. Long-haired, a woman by the looks of those curves beneath a mixture between a bedlah and leather armor, protection and appeal all at once. As the rogues and Tangle went on to get ready, it was Storm who went on to rush ahead as he crashed upon the caravan, making it topple over.
“Oops, I'm so sorry!” the large hawk went on to say, not credible by a long shot as he tried to make this pass as an accident. Jet seemed annoyed at the attempt, yet would not let his companion take the fall for this as he went on with his fan-like weapons, preparing to indeed pin and harm the guard right here and then. One swift strike caused for the mask to drop as Tangle prepared herself to do her part, a smirk on her face. Fate, however, had different plans as the woman in question, lupine in nature, wasn't just tough-looking but also drop-dead gorgeous. Squinted eyes, pristine fur, long hair in a ponytail, nice athletic curves, she was a looker alright and if Tangle didn't believe in love at first sight, she did now.
“Grab the dang thing already, jeez!” Jet went on to say, looking in Tangle's general direction as the lemur was supposed to stay hidden, using her extendable appendage to grab the coffers while chaos reigned. Official city guards, perhaps a good Samaritan or two might intervene and time was of the essence, yet the idea to leave this beautiful wolf alone did not sit well with her as once again did her good nature play out against her own deluded ambitions. If one hair of that woman was harmed, Tangle would regret it as she went on to move out of hiding as an impulse, herself not quite knowing what she was doing. “What the?!”
“Uh...wasn't it my job to create a distraction?” Tangle went on to say, employing a technique that she had seldom used: playing the honey trap role. While she wasn't exactly all that confident about her looks, she wasn't bad-looking by a long shot. Her leaner build, her exposed stomach and her generally jovial attitude could indeed sway a few hearts and turn a few heads as she went on to strut her stuff. The few times she had done so, she had been too embarrassed to continue, unable to take advantage of her audience who seemed to enjoy what they were seeing. A few coins tossed her way dissuaded her from dancing as a distraction, though right now she knew that she wouldn't be able to fend off both Jet and Storm on her lonesome. “I mean...isn't it working?”
As Storm was about to punch the wolf clock's out, he was indeed caught in the performance as he glanced at Tangle's direction. A few moments of belly rolls, using her tail in a serpent-like fashion and just generally being nimble and alluring gave ample opportunity for the still-unknown lupine gal to roll out of the way and then whistle for the Wisps to go on and do their thing. They tackled and swarmed around the big hawk, making him try to swat them away yet to no avail. Jet himself tried to hit their opponent right away and yet one bolt stole one of his weapon, its trajectory as perfect as it could be to stick it against a nearby wall. When aware of her surroundings, this wolf woman knew exactly what she was doing, a sharpshooter who was definitely impressing Tangle as it almost seemed like she had glanced at the lemur's direction for a split-second.
“I knew something was up. I'll get you for this, traitor!” Jet said as he ran away, Storm following as his instinct proved right, more guards coming due to the ruckus attracting too many gazes. Eventually did it all calm down as the cart was put back up, the mule reassured and by then Tangle felt that she had messed up spectacularly. Regret crashed over, yet the beetle came close to her and then shook her hand, grabbing it gently.
“Thank you. Without your intervention, the funds for my new shop would have been stolen. Truly, you have my gratitude,” the smaller beetle said, Tangle understanding why she'd need protection given not just her size, but the lack of imposing musculature or intimidating traits. Easy picking, even for someone as non-prone to violence as the lemur herself. “I'm Jewel the Beetle...and this is Whisper the wolf. Very glad to make your acquaintance...”
One look, a raised eyebrow and then it was clear that Jewel expected for Tangle to say her name, yet there was a slight moment when she felt Whisper's gaze upon her, looking up and down...checking her out? A small blush, uncharacteristic of the lemur and yet somewhat exciting as the wolf went on to speak, albeit in a way that did give an explanation as to her name. “Slick moves...”
“Oh...uh...thanks,” Tangle responded, not the first time someone had complimented her dancing, as rudimentary as it was, yet as she looked away if only to regain some composure, she saw that Jewel was still holding her hand and expecting an answer to her silent query. “Ah! Uh...yeah, Lemur the tangle...I mean Tangle the lemur. Anyway, I'll be...I'll be going eh? See ya!”
“Now just you wait, someone putting their life on the line for a complete stranger ought be rewarded,” Jewel said as she placed some coins on Tangle's palm, more than enough for a complete meal. As Whisper went on look around to be on guard for further unpleasant surprises, Jewel went on to glance at Tangle once again. “Could be more if you'd like. If you know how to fight, I could hire you. What do you say?”
“Could use someone like you,” Whisper added, again looking at Tangle for a moment more than necessary until she got her Wisps on the lookout while other guards went closer to ask about what happened. Tangle felt a pressure on her shoulders, but also a rather great sensation the longer she stared at Whisper as something told her that perhaps, just perhaps, she might get what she was looking for if she stuck around those two.
Could her life of crime be but a prelude to a greater purpose? Adventure? Fisticuffs? Vile fiends robbing others? Possible romance? The thought of it all ignited a fire within as the lemur forgot about her ambitions for a bit in favor of new ones, struck in awe and certainly not just in a touch of infatuation as she grabbed Jewel's hand with her other one, essentially shaking on it. “Of course! I'm the best you could hire. I have so much experience, you won't believe in how good a deal you've got with me on board, lady!”
And thus did Tangle drop her dream of banditry, of becoming as fearsome yet respected as those 40 thieves, as Aladdin and other such colorful characters. Her reputation shot due to her sudden betrayal of the Babylon Rogues, she had nonetheless found a new place. Regular payments, a roof on top of her head and more than that, true friends she could count on. In the end did she gain what she needed not by stealing...
But by true to her own self, without pretense.
