Given that his soles look to be rather soft and smooth, it's likely that they're also quite sensitive and given a feather, paintbrush and and brush on the table it's easy to see why he looked worried. Though perhaps it might be that his captor won't be using those implements or even their fingers, but deciding to make use of Canas's long braid, seeing how ticklish the end might be brushed over his soles or slid in and out between his toes.
