These gouache postcards are part of a large series where I will be aiming to paint 100 landscapes. These were painted in 2023.
Postcard 71 Lilypads - These flowering lilypads are a recreation of my original test postcard that was painted in 2020, different location, different lily pads but same concept.
Postcard 69 Eucalypts - We often take our dogs along this trial on Saturday mornings. The open scrubland is an old rehabilitated mining site and is filled with native flowers, trees and bird species.

Amazing to see the pinprick-accurate technique in the eucalyptus picture next to the impressionist, but by no means less vivacious and evocative, lilypadscape! Water lilies are almost cartoonish in real life, anyway -- such a distinct plant! And the noble pallor of the tree, drawn at such an angle as to emphasize its looming grandeur, is a joy to behold, as well.
