I have always really liked this song. It was on a album that Doc Watson had made in memorial to his late son Merl. My parents used to play it all the time on car trips.
Single track recording with guitar and vocals I don't remember the mic placement.

Remember I don't have the ear you do. In fact hearing tests grade my right ear as possibly having been damaged in my youth. But gutting and retrofitting an old pair of headphones is a pretty good idea. A lot of good headphones aren't that comfortable and don't have good insulation, whereas old crappy headphones are very comfortable for me and usually have insulation that could be described as overkill.
I thought about it. I have been out of practice for a few months so I didn't know If wanted to try adding something else. It's been a really rough quarter trying to find the time to play and record between school and looking for work. I would really like to put a mandolin in this at some point so I may rerecord it.
