Chibi myths: Banshee
Last year we had started a little project called "Myhtober", where each day of October we'd draw the lineart of a chibi mythological creature, and these would have eventually been put all together in a tiny coloring book. In the end we didn't have the time to go through with that, but this doesn't mean we can't revive the project in another form ;)
So expect a little creature to pop up in your feed sometimes, and today's myth is... the banshee! Coming from Irish and Scottish mythology, the banshee is a mourning female spirit of the Fair Folk, usually either an old woman or a beautiful youth, which keening was said to be able to predict the death of one of the family members of the family she was linked to, while her shouts of triumph alerted to the death of a member from a rival family. She's mostly famous for her piercing voice and the sad, dark nature of her appearances. Her far less known male counterpart is the farshee.
