While taking a drawing course at ACAD, I learned how to do subtractive drawing with charcoal. I absolutely love the process of it too. For those who don't know, you take a piece of paper like this one, cover it in charcoal, rub it into the paper, then erase out sections until you have what you were drawing. This is the first step: clearing out the white spaces.

Charcoal may be my favourite drawing material now. It's just so fantastic to work with and so wonderfully messy.
