it's what the name suggests.
these are not the Cubons from the original Pokemon lore. the skull they were on their head is from the enemies they killed in battle. for every foe that falls to their blades, they remove their heads and collect the skulls, and once a cubone warrior has collected a hundred skulls they will crush them into fine dust and make them into clay and mold it to the filmier shape you see.
the female Cubone had not earned her skull helmet yet for she had yet to kill 100 enemies but she will get there soon.
Cubons mostly work with Space Wolves or Space Shark chapters for they have the same barbaric attacks.
the last thing is that Skull Takers also drain the blood of their enemies and use it as war paint on their armor to spread fear to their foes
the Cubone that used to cry about their dead mom now are hardened warriors that take the skulls of all who fall before them.
also, Khorne HATES these assholes. they take from the skull throne and drain the blood for themselves, Greedy little vermin

The whole "wearing their mother's skull" thing is peak "Pokedex is lying". If all cubones wear their mother's skull, that means that all female cubone only have a single child before dying, which would cause the species to rapidly go extinct (not counting Dittos, since they're largely believed to be failed attempts at making Mewtwo and thus don't factor into the calculations). This is not only more grimdark, but also makes a lot more sense.
In "DOW Dark Crusade" there was a Lore blurb when you beat the Ork Stronghold with the Imperial Guard: A minor mutiny of Ogryns because they weren't allowed to collect Ork Skulls for the Emperor.
Nice Little Lore addition Quicktron i like your "Grimdarkening" of the Pokemon Lore keep it up.
REALLY like the "Babarian" style Power armor.
I think there was a loyal Marine chapter that marked their Armor with the blood of their fallen foes.
PS: Cubone with a Imperial Fist armor?.... the IMP FISTS ... who are known to scrimshaw bones....
