
I started playing around with Sculptris, a free 3D modelling program (it's more working with clay than constructing). ADDICTING! :D
Unfortunately I have no experience with 3D (or animating) so far, but I really enjoyed it, and I hope to be able to learn and work some more with it in the future. ^^
So here's my first try on a Schnolf head.

I typically build a simple mesh in Zbrush, and then proceed to sculpt it to a high detailed model. I then arrange the topography onto the high mesh and import the new low polygon shape into Maya with Normals applied from the high poly mesh. this gives me a highly detailed character to animate with in under half the time it takes to build from maya first.
Etwa 3 Abende, wobei ich erst mal das Programm kennen lernen musste. Als ich dann die wichtigsten Funktionen gefunden hatte, ging es relativ flott. Ich hätte noch ewig weitermachen können (ist noch viel schief dran), aber ich muss erst noch weiter meine Todo liste abarbeiten. ;>
So here I was playing around with Maya and Zbrush (Zbrush is another sculpting application like the one you use), and felt rather confident in what I was doing.
Then I see this! Absolutely fantastic! This is very well made, and your style would be amazing as 3D animation!

mal ein großes danke =3 hab so ein Programm schon überall gesucht ^-^
ich habe mich mal selber an das Programm gewagt und muss sangen es hat Potential =3
sehr leicht zu handhaben auser wenns um eckige Objekte oder Haare und so geht ^-^'
für ne alpha Version aber top =3 mal sehen wie es sich noch entwickelt
daher großes Kompliment zu deiner Skulptur =3 das braucht echt können das so toll hinzukriegen

I should give Sculptris another go. I poked at it a little a while ago, but only spent a few minutes on it. I used to love sculpting in high school, it would be fun to get back into that.
I wonder if there's an easy way to export from Sculptris into something that can do rigging? It would be fun to export to something that can be animated, or to Second Life.
