(Note: For anyone wondering about some things, such as Fleegle’s missing tail and Drooper’s mouth not being colored in, this is a fairly old pic, and I didn’t notice the errors until after I laminated the picture, so bleh xp)
If there is a moment that is the epitome of “This Is Why We Can’t Have Nice Things”, then this is…To be honest, it isn’t the highest on the list, but it’s somewhere!
Now, y’all are wondering just what the backstory is behind all of this.
Well, to make it simple, The Banana Splits won a trip to a certain chocolateer’s factory (amazingly, not by golden tickets, but by a golden ticket sweepstakes-weak excuse, but hey, as long as all 4 splits get to go), and after an near-miss with Bingo and the chocolate river, the group was led off to someplace safer-the inventing room, what else? There, the splits were shown, amongst many other things, a special kind of gum that houses a full three-course dinner all by itself! Not much else was told, other than that it wasn’t ready for consumption just yet.
Upon hearing that, Drooper’s own curiosity got the better of him-After all, a full three course dinner in the form of a small strip of gum sounded way too good to resist! When nobody was looking, the lion swiped the gum and popped it into his mouth, and with that, he was off to the races, with the rest of the group finding him just as he had reached the roast beef! Despite Wonka’s protests to spit the gum out, the lion kept chewing until he reached the dessert-Blueberry Pie and Ice Cream!
It was that moment where the splits notices that something strange was happening to Drooper-Mainly, a large, blue stain was forming on his nose (it wasn’t too hard to spot, considering how red it normally is)…Not only that, but it appeared to be spreading…
A couple minuets, a thousand or so gallons of blueberry juice, and a ton of gurgling and sloshing later, Drooper was now a massive blueberry, twice the size of his friends!
Since he’s currently too big, round, and full to move around on his own, this is where he gets off on the tour, as he needs to be rolled off to the juicing room, and get all of the juice squeezed out of him, ASAP!
