My guess is: no he doesn't. What he probably really wants is to be accepted by his parents, or by the tree, even if he doesn't know it. Because he grew up in an environment where guardian=acceptance and respect, he probably equates the two. I'm hoping Tristan will be the light he needs to regain his sight, as it were (or perhaps even literally?) Tristan so far is the only one we've seen who's not a complete asshole in some regard or the other, so I'm hoping he becomes the moral compass of the group, at least for a bit.
Curious to see if Tristan keep pace with Nigel on his back. Nigel seems to be a light weight, but Tristan too. Not sure his has the strength to accomplish his goodwill.

Personally I hope you get an even better life than the one you should have had Nigel. I have a feeling you will eventually be the most important Knight. And Tristan keep trying, Nigel needs to get his first friend. I'm sure he'll respond to your kindness eventually. As for you Leo your making an ass of yourself.

There's a big difference between being flawed and just being plain old unlikable, and unfortunately, 4 out of 5 of our gang so far kinda fall into the latter category. They gotta give us something to work with that lets us know deep down they are good people.
Nigel and Leo in particular are, judged just at initial face value, completely unsalvageable. Leo's a mean arrogant bully and Nigel is just a walking talking snarling pile of person-shaped hate and bitterness.

Okay, I gave Leo the benefit of the doubt before, since we mostly just saw Chilli and Miralle taunting him, but I'm really starting to not like Leo now. For all his posturing, he's almost as disrespectful of the tree as Nigel when you get down to it. At least Nigel wasn't willing to throw his weight around as an arrogant bully.

firefeathers has had a similar issue with their angel character in the caelum sky comic they are working on and it made the artist consider completely disabling comments on their pages because of the hate people were directing towards their character. doesnt mean that these types of characters should be liked, just dont be so hurtful about it

The emotional whiplash in the comments is so funny to me. Everyone is so dead set on liking Nigel despite him being a pos that they are lashing out at Leo because... he's acting like Nigel! Like pick a lane XD
I think they're all what they are; children at the start of a journey where they become adults. Idk when was the last time you interacted with late teen/early 20 boys but they're a lot like this. I love seeing children act like children. (if you're a boy in this demographic and you're not like this congrats! This comment isn't about you. Move along)

They all need to grow up, but.... Truthfully, I think Leo does the most, as does Nigel, but I feel more positive that Nigel will eventually see the light of things, figuratively speaking. Once he accepts being helped more often, he might just get his sight back, and hopefully change the way he acts, bit by bit. But stubborn pride is extremely difficult to passively remove.

They might be forming a "motley crew" right now, but each of them will learn from the others when the very worst will fall on them.
It's on the worst adversity that differences are set aside and fights for a common goal are lead.
To be honest, I am sure the Tree took the right decision. Looking forward to seeing the crew evolve, really ^^

How the fuck does the author reconsile Leo's arsehole/pants on head ret@rded nature with the sincere desire to help those in need crap needed to be a guardian? Seriously, would it hurt to explain this contradition at some point? Or are the readers just obliged to accept it without question because big mummy milkers knows best uwu?

*You and everyone getting all pissy over fictional characters from a story that isn't even finished yet* Give them FUCKING TIME! Do you think people start their journey as perfect beings? Did you know character development is actually a thing? Can't you tell Luna to put them together so they could grow with the help of one another? Plus, it makes for a more interesting story if the characters start off rough and don't get along at first. Those who want them to get along ideally from the start are missing a lot, especially the chance to enjoy some story development.

It's called being a glory hound. You can reconcile the fact that he wants to help and save others as a guardian with a fanatical, selfish understanding of what a guardian is. He'll save people from the chaos because that what guardians must do to be recognised as the best, and what he wants is to be recognised as the best.
I like how SheepDragon25 labels me the seething idiot despite his pissy reply to my original comment. And he blocked me before I could give any reply. He had no way of knowing how I would reply, but blocked me anyway. And now he's replying to other comments I've made on previous pages of the comic!
