Commission: Grimes Surveillance. (Farewell Trent)
Hello Everyone, a bit of unfortunate news. This will be the last concept art made by Trent-Rommel ([Link to his page on DA]: https://www.deviantart.com/trent-rommel ) as he's leaving our team and pursuing other interests.
Here's a quick message summarizing what's going on with that:
"Trent enjoyed his time with the project, but has decided to pursue a calling in creating games; therefore, Trent is leaving the Nomads of Korsun team and this will be their final submission.
We will miss him, but wish Trent the best in pursuit of their dream."
So unfortunately this will be the last posting created by Trent, and we'll be without his help for editing/review after this as well. We might lose a little background/prop/firearm quality with him leaving the art team, but the rest of the artists and I will try and "make due" as best as we can. Though as I mentioned, I hope he does well in his new path developing games, which is something I eventually want to do as well.
Regardless, the other artists also assisted with edits/review as usual, and they did a great job polishing up the character art and helping make the lighting really interesting.
(That being Seyumei
Draggincat, Dolphy
Dolphiana, and Henzy [They wanted a link to their DA page: https://www.deviantart.com/henzypoo ]).
Context wise, this concept art conveys the following:
Grimes is a foreman for the local "Distribution & Logistics" cooperative. The problem with Grimes is that he's corrupt and has been siphoning off supplies from legitimate Cooperatives for a while now, as well as running firearms through his docks for some time. Grimes isn't very clever, nor has he been hiding his illicit operations very well, essentially making his black market dealings an "open secret" in Port Zarragoza.
---> (When Griggs first interacted with "Foreman Grimes" he was immediately suspicious, and considered arresting him right then and there, but needed to gather more evidence first; as arresting a manager of a dock would have caused quite a lot of disruption in the logistics of Korsun).
This makes Grimes a natural first target for Juno; however, she likes to conduct plenty of surveillance and make a detailed plan accounting for all known variables before striking. Watching and photographing the warehouse complex from a distance she's learned of several weaknesses already. Grime's crew is quite sloppy and undisciplined, often leaving fire exits open as well as drinking/sleeping on the job.
Now that Juno has figured out her entry/exit points, the weaknesses to exploit, and the best time to infiltrate the facility, Grime's fate is likely sealed. And unlike some of her later jobs, there probably wont be any interruptions or unexpected outside factors getting in her way.
If anyone is curious, this picture directly connects to the following two scenes, the first one being before this picture, the second one being afterwards:

Anyway, this will probably be one of the last postings before my team and I takes a break from full color concept art in order to focus on some necessary pre-production work in the background. Things will be a bit slower without Trent, but thankfully there's another artist I haven't linked anything of who's been doing really well and might be ready enough to start having some of their work shared on the page next year.
Regardless, there's about 1-2 more postings that were finished a while back but I haven't gotten around to getting publicly posted, mostly because they are just follow ups of existing concept arts, or redos of existing concept arts with better backgrounds. We'll probably do those later this week, or next week. Once that's sorted, I'll post a journal entry mentioning the pre-production break for the rest of the year, then we'll wait until 2024 before getting active again.
As always, let me know what you guys think of the image, what can be used to improve future concept arts, and if there are any areas for possible improvement.
Thanks everyone. Hope you like the concept art!
