The fox can't believe it. He circled the woods for a short while, looking for any sign of his nemesis. No trace. But no trace was clue enough that they had caught up to his deception, and had deceived him in return, and he had fallen for it, like a noob.
Already on edge, tired and sweaty, he's unprepared for what's waiting for him back in the boys' locker room : a big mustelid mess. Most of the badger team by the looks of it, including their reserve player, is gathered there, stripped to their skivvies, bound and muzzled. He's unsure at first what to think besides the fact he's surrounded by idiots : they had been given a taste of their own medicine, but by whom? did his earlier plan work? Or was it the rabbits? His overheating brain, tunnel-visioned about his current concern and having almost forgotten about the bears, does its best at optimizing time, chooses to assume it's the latter; it's more likely anyway. Not a bad situation at all. In fact, he realizes as he walks towards the hapless badgers, it might be the best case scenario.
He notices that the red one apparently desperately wants a word with him – probably kept uncomfortably warm by the small guy tied to his back. He's however not looking to chat, especially with someone who's obviously too angry to be coherent. Instead he walks up to the guy he has seen guarding the trophies and takes his gag off.
“Where are they?”
“Where's who??”
“Grmmff... don't make me facepalm again, you look dumb enough already. The RABBITS. Where are they?”
“Uhh... depends... some of em we left on the field, I think they're still there... others we were looking for all afternMGHF!”
The fox interrupts him, grabbing his snout.
“No I'm looking for the rabbits who live in space mining colonies actually. Dumbass! The ones who clearly had no trouble owning you.”
“Oh okay... they took all our trophies and clothes... even those we had in our lockers! Even some clothes from a bear or something, they asked us about it... we dunno, man, but you have to call the cops or something, this is a robbermghfghrr!!”
“I'll keep squeezing your snout until you get to the point already.”
“I... I heard em walk around, I think they're still in the building, I think they're looking for somefmmgh...”
The fox interrupts again, this time repositioning the gag over the badger's mouth.
“Yeah don't think so hard, you're hurting your tiny brain.”
As he did before, the fox decides to leave the guys to their fate for the time being. He thought for a second about evening the odds by untying a few of them to fight on his side; but time is running out – not only to catch the rabbits, but also to avoid succumbing to second hand embarrassment being exposed for too long to this pathetic scene; not to mention, he can't be sure what good some already defeated animals in underpants would be for what he plans to do. He further rationalizes his choice, considering the amount of efforts he's deployed so far, including some deeds he's not too proud of, just to ensure he would be the only one getting his paws on the two rabbits. Maybe these guys would now also have a case for revenge. But his comes first. Perhaps if he had time after defeating his enemies, he would untie everyone as he had implied to the unfortunate rabbit team; maybe he would let the badgers have their two rabbit captors after he was all done with them. But for the time being, all that counts is to get them, and make them pay.
