Aja (Ajabu) and Naja (Najani) come together to form the lions of Ja. Let's party like it's 2005! Aja with his sporty Billie Joe Armstrong outfit, while Naja rocks the Avril Lavigne look. If you were alive at the time, you know you listened to them... Don't hide it. Don't deny it. We'll find you. We'll force it out of you. Nobody lies to the lions of Ja.
This was a fun little idea we had. The hair dye may or may not be based on something that I did irl... I think Naja's favorite hairstyle I talked about sporting, was when I was 19 and I had green and pink spikes. Boy that was a time...
Green Day also happened to be the first band that I actually went out and bought a CD of (American Idiot, of course. Released when I was 14). Up until that point, I had been getting most of my music from my dad. He is a bit of a stereotypical Gen X punk rocker dude. So I was at least getting cool music from him, but Green Day was the first time that I really branched off and found my own thing (he never really cared for them much, even though I remember the band that he and my uncle were in would play some Green Day songs, when I sat outside of their room and listened to them, as a child). But I digress...
All that to say that there's a lot of symbolism here, at least on my side. Emblematic of an era of angst that we all look back on with a mixture of different emotions. It was a fun piece to get. Maybe we'll whip out some instruments, in the future.
