I felt like doing one of these again as they take far less time than an actual story. Sorry for the roughness of it compared to the first one - I'm still trying to get used to OpenOffice, which I was surprised to discover has even more hideous layout tools than Word itself. You'll have to suspend disbelief that a world can produce a show of this scale and still not have invented decent printing tools ;)
This interview takes place shortly before the start of the third series, after the programme has been away for a year. And even though I said I wouldn't write any more about this for a while, I hope that I'll be able to put the features Alex mentions into practice soon...
It's surprising what you have to think of when writing something in a different world - the month names, current year and method of writing the date, for example. Here, I just made them up as I went along, with two three-letter abbreviations and a date about 100 years past ours.

"But it doesn’t put people
off - even though it’s all done up as
something a bit threatening and
sinister, people know that it’s just for
fun underneath, and isn’t dangerous or
frightening. We don’t offer a major
prize, so the people who come on
genuinely just want to be part of it. Or
they’re prepared to do it for the sake
of getting on television!"
Why do I get the feeling Alex was bullshitting through his teeth. Everyone from IZ 5 and there on out freaked out just from the sight of the damn things. Even in episodes 1-4, and he was having fun at their expense. X'D
